That happened if a team were unable to finish a season. Not sure it's ever happened for a club postponing a game due to player strike. When Middlesbrough failed to show up at Ewood that time, they got points docked and the match was rearranged. When Blackpool's last game of the season was abandoned due to a pitch invasion protest four years ago, the score at the time the game was called off stood. It's not that Bolton have ceased to exist, they called off a game and there isn't the option to reschedule it. I'm not aware of this situation happening before?stillgrowling wrote: ↑Tue May 07, 2019 3:36 pmAs I said - when this happened years ago, that team't results were totally expunged. ie as if they had never -played a match.

Re: The Bolton chaos
It happened to Chester City, but under slightly different circumstances. They were totally wound up and results for the season expunged, as I assume because it's impossible to award an opposition 3 points for not playing a club that no longer exists. A new club was formed called Chester FC.stillgrowling wrote: ↑Tue May 07, 2019 3:36 pmAs I said - when this happened years ago, that team't results were totally expunged. ie as if they had never -played a match.

Re: The Bolton chaos
12 point penalty plus whatever point deduction they get for not fulfilling their fixtures? Ouch!

Re: The Bolton chaos
Surely it'll apply to next season since this one's over?

It will be next season. Any club going into admin after the 4th Thursday of March will have the penalty applied to the following season if they get relegated.

Or explusion, not that it would matter if they cease to exist.

Some will never accept it, but it could easily have been Rovers.

Re: The Bolton chaos
RTT... it may still be Rovers if Venkys cut the cord and try to sell. The era of the plucky small-town club is nearly at an end I fear. We aren’t going to be self sufficient on the crowd levels alone, just as Bolton aren’t.

It could be any club. But I think there's specific parallels to draw with Bolton, how our paths have diverged over recent years.

I would have more likely been us with some of the people the fans wanted as our owners over the last few years.
