Sack race
Re: Sack race
Surprised it took Forest this long to can him, they love a sacking.
Re: Sack race
Interesting replacement though... Martin O'Neill takes over. The Forest fans I'm talking to don't seem too excited about that one.
Re: Sack race
Legacy with Forest as a player but I'd be seriously underwhelmed appointing O'Neil these days. He's been pretty disappointing at Sunderland and ROI and some of the things that have come out about training and so forth don't make good reading.
Re: Sack race
David Wagner has gone. Nice bloke.

Re: Sack race
Wasnt he accused of fielding an under strength team when Rovers were facing relegation?
Re: Sack race
Against Birmingham, yes. They'd got into the playoffs and were resting their team. That's up to them. The league and other teams are not in a position to be making value judgements on who a manager should be playing in which match. Nice != screws their own team to help a different one.
Re: Sack race
A refreshingly open and honest statement from the chairman too:
"His achievements will rightly put him up there in Huddersfield Town history alongside great names like Herbert Chapman and Mick Buxton; legendary managers who changed the face of this club.
"As I have said previously, I had no intention of sacking David this season. Subsequently, David - being the great man he is - came to us and made it clear that he needs a break from the rigours of football management.
"We discussed making that change immediately, but he also made it clear he would give his all for the rest of this season before departing in the summer if we preferred.
"We all felt that David staying at the club until the end of the season was best, but we've kept discussions open and we all now feel that the time is right to part ways.
"I know the term 'mutual consent' is often a byword for the manager being sacked in professional football, but this is a truly joint decision. David has a real, genuine love for this club and, like me, his foremost concern in our talks has been to establish what is best for Huddersfield Town."

Re: Sack race
Sam Allardyce has ruled himself out of contention for the Huddersfield job stating even he cannot save them. So it looks like Huddersfield will be playing championship football next season. Assuming that Rovers will somehow fail to make the play offs and the back door into the Premiership this season maybe our own very very nice bloke Tony Mowbray will oversee a victory or two over the Terriers next season. I agree Mr Wagner has done a splendid job and did what he had to do and why should he care about a club battling relegation. Maybe he did us favour.Ethiaa wrote: ↑Tue Jan 15, 2019 7:36 amAgainst Birmingham, yes. They'd got into the playoffs and were resting their team. That's up to them. Re: Sack race
Except there are occasions when they do just that. Ultimately it's unworkable - if it's in a team's interests to not give 100% they will find a way to do it, and any after-the-event sanctions will not benefit teams who are affected. But I was surprised the league didn't hand out a punishment all the sameEthiaa wrote: ↑Tue Jan 15, 2019 7:36 amAgainst Birmingham, yes. They'd got into the playoffs and were resting their team. Re: Sack race
West Brom have sacked manager Darren Moore. Strange timing on this one. They are in the play offs positions with ten games left. Just what they expect another manager to achieve in that time with no transfer window available.

He’s relegated Ipswich too now.Rover the Top wrote: ↑Fri Oct 26, 2018 2:22 pmLambert set us up for relegation and ran off so someone else would take the blame. A let down with Villa, us, Wolves and Stoke now... he must have a fanastic agent to still be given opportunities.
Congratulations Paul. The Tractor Boys became the first team to be relegated in the English Football League this season following a 1-1 draw with Birmingham City.
Lambert thanked the Ipswich fans for their support after the club's fate was sealed with four matches still to play.
"You saw the reception at the end of the game, that was incredible. I've been involved in some unbelievable moments in my career, that's as good as it gets for me, that's how emotional it was," said Lambert.
