Re: General Election

Some epic failings of tactical voting. City of London goes to the Tories despite them taking 17k votes and the greens, labour and lib dems taking 25k votes.

Re: General Election

Exit poll suggesting huge conservative majority and worst Labour position in "modern times", basically their fewest seats since prior to WW2.

Re: General Election

Who said anything about abolishing existing infrastructure? The NHS is mostly a service led..... erm, service? Go back to the red cross example. They were able, due to cutting out middle management waste, to deliver a better service for less. The same occurs at all sorts of levels within the NHS alr...

Re: General Election

I've not got a problem with 111 itself, my experience sounds similar to Dan's, the staff are polite and helpful, and so far they've pointed us in the right direction for getting help. If they're always sending you to A&E or the out of hours doctor, then that's because you're right to be concerned a...

Re: General Election

I would say currently it's an utterly pointless waste of time and resource.

Re: General Election

111 takes longer nowadays because the Tories stripped back the service a few years ago so that you’re now triaged by call centre staff with a questionnaire rather than the trained medical staff that previously took the calls. In fact most of the problems you list boil down to under funding. It’s th...

Re: General Election

Ah, I knew you'd pipe up missing the point as usual blackbat. There's a world of difference between providing some basic facilities for people you know are going to spend a long, long time in hospital, and providing hundreds of spare beds in every a &e department so that every kid with flu can have...

Re: General Election

Nobody is asking them to magic up extra beds. People are asking for the right number of beds to be there, and the right people to be in those beds. It's not long ago that you were bemoaning the lack of a bed for you to sleep in in hourwife's maternity ward. Now whilst I personally think that's a ste...

Re: General Election

More relevant, the appalling abuse of statistics performed by Sajid Javid to claim the Tories are improving the homelessness numbers in the uk are absolutely cringe worthy. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/sajid-javid-homeless-conservatives-labour-election-brexit-t...

Re: General Election

I can confirm this is not the case. However, I don't disagree with the policy. What I do disagree with is that it is all that's needed to fund the highly ambitious policies put forward by Labour, along with an increase in corporation tax to be possibly the highest level of tax on business in the wor...

Re: General Election

Oh of course it's hypocritical, but you'd need some form of moral and ethical code at all for that to be a concern.... ;) But on a wider note it's something that I see dealt with inconsistently across all spheres. For example, Wagner wrote brilliant music, but was an horrific anti-semite. Does that ...

Re: General Election

And really, the first female MP was Sinn Fein's https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Constance_Markievicz who refused to take her seat.

But still: the first female sitting MP is worthy of recognition, despite her views, same with the first female PM etc.

Re: General Election

That’s a weak and slightly shameful defence. There is more than enough written, researched and read into the the debate to conclude that Islamaphobia is a racialised discourse. Someone of your intellect should know better than to deny it. It says something that that's what motivates you to join the...
