Re: Current Events/News

It's quite obvious why there's a disproportionate increase in coronavirus cases in the north compared to London: when nobody had it in the north we locked down along with London. The number of people catching it in London was way way way higher than reported, as studies that suggest ~80% of people ...

How is the rule of 6 tightening restrictions anyway? We’ve replaced two households and two vectors with up to six people from different households and a possible 6 vectors.

Madness.
I’m still hung up on this. Just how many different groups of six do you think I could see in a day? 😀

Re: Current Events/News

If you stop doing something which prevents something else without a significant change which will alter the situation (like everyone being dead), then the something else that was being prevented starts again. It's just hard logic. No doubt. But doesn't fit the real life situation. It's a massive ov...

Re: Current Events/News

That's nice. But irrelevant to my statement. Perhaps if you linked it to penguin migration. Nah. If you don't want to hear it for whatever reason, that's fine, your choice. We live in a contrary world where we adhere to what's politically acceptable even when it's detrimental in the long run.

Re: Current Events/News

Nah. It's much much simpler and less involved and frankly less interesting. If you do some stuff to mitigate something and then stop doing it while the something is still there, the mitigation ends. Hardly shocking news. Whilst that's true at some level, it's not that simple because as blackbat is ...

https://news.sky.com/story/amp/coronavirus-short-term-lockdowns-could-result-in-more-covid-19-deaths-study-claims-12098766 Is that because if you didn’t have a lockdown there wouldn’t have been a second wave, it would have just been one big one? :yeahright: Well, that is pretty much the gist of wha...

Re: Current Events/News

Eth, despite the leanings of that article, there are a huge amount of civil liberties being eroded during this period. As stated by Berrow in the above article, 50 laws with criminal penalties without any vote in Parliament. Whatever you think about politics, this crisis and so on, that is worrying...

Re: General Election

Right, so other party's voters aren't Starmar's territory.... but other party's voters are Johnson's territory? What are you talking about? The whole point is that voters aren't fixed. For Labour to win an election, they need to take voters from other parties, by appealing to people who voted for a...

Re: General Election

Lib Dem voters are not Keir Starmer's territory though. Labour voters are. The working class are the core of the centre left, I've no idea how you can say otherwise, they are the ones the party exists for. And Boris Johnson's Conservatives just took a load of those votes (it's not just about Brexit,...
